Simon Property Group, Inc. is an S&P 100 company and global leader in retail real estate ownership, management and development. It’s ranked #1 in the United States as the largest real estate investment trust.

The company is a fully integrated real estate company which operates from five retail real estate platforms: regional malls, Premium Outlet Centers, The Mills, community/lifestyle centers and international properties. The total market capitalization is approximately $96 billion and the U.S. portfolio is comprised of 209 properties (with 184 million square feet of gross leasable area) spread across 37 US states and Puerto Rico, generating annual retail sales of more than $60 billion. The company is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana and employs more than 5,000 people worldwide.

Simon had been using Teamworks 6.1 as their production BPM system for several years. The migration to IBM BPM v8 would allow them to leverage the new features of IBM BPM v8, as well as keeping them fully supported.

Apex worked with Simon's BPM team and migrated 6 major processes into 6 process applications and associated toolkits. Apex customized the following portal items: A) Saved Search Portal, B) My Team Performance Portal, C) Process Inspector (equivalent version of Process Inspector tab in Admin console), D) View Instance details page (all the tasks details for an instance) including document attachments. Data was extracted from existing instances to manually restart the instances in BPM 8.
